That's the good news. The bad news -- at least for lead-foots -- is that it's only a matter of time before this rumor becomes reality

I dunno, I have to disagree.

There are inherent benefits to society and the government for speeding:

    1. Speeders generate revenue, I like to call it my "fast tax". Some cities here in the U.S. have installed "Red Light" cameras, and while they solve the problem of people running red lights, they don't generate the expected "profits", because people become familiar with them and cease to run the lights.

    2. If everyone drove the speed limit in fear of an assured ticket, our highway system would come to a grinding halt. (more so than it already is). We would have gridlock of epidemic proportions.

    3. If speeding tickets were the rule rather than the exception, how would any manufacturer be able to sell a Hayubusa, Ninja, CBR, Ferrari, BMW, or any other type of sport bike/car??? These manufacturers need at least the illusion of being able to speed on the wide open (good luck finding one) highway, or we'd all be driving mopeds and mini-vans an generating a substantially lower tax revenue.
