Damn deer

Friday night around 11:00pm I was headed home - about a twenty mile ride. I had recently seen deer out and about on my normal route home, so I decided to take another road; a bit wider, less curves.
Sure as hell, about five miles from home, a deer jumped out in front of me and I hit it.
I woke up in the hospital with a major concussion, two broken teeth, road rash (even though I was fully leathered) a broken elbow and a broken foot. Damn lucky it wasn't worse.

PLEASE everybody, take your protective gear seriously. Helmet, leathers, gloves and boots are the MINIMUM I will ride with now. Regardless of the weather, I'm wearing it all!

Be safe.

Sorry to hear that you are hurt, but glad to hear that it is not as bad as it could be. Quick recovery vibes to you!

Ain't that typical? It always happens when you think you're gonna be the smart one, and alter your doings - just 'cause you get that sense/ or that idea that you're about to have a bad day if you don't.
Been there, and sadly enough, have woken up when the dust was settling a few times.

Yup, Irony and I aren't strangers.
